"Whatever one makes of these seven passages in Scripture, it seems clear that they must not be used in the service of condemning homosexuality as we know it today. […] There is, however, much in Scripture about compassion for one’s fellow human beings, a call for empathy and justice for the marginalized, and a standard of honesty, mutuality, and love in all relationships. In the end, God believes in love. Therefore, I would argue that Scripture gives us great and lasting guidance for the conduct of our relationships, whether they be with strangers, friends, or lifelong partners."

Bishop Gene Robinson, God Believes in Love: Straight Talk About Gay Marriage

"God believes in love." That’s the end of it, really.

"I fear that marriage equality is a more palatable issue to discuss than the disproportionate impact of deadly violence for people of color, transgender women, transgender people of color and gay men. And it terrifies me that the idea of "ultimat…"

Hey, a federal judge just ruled the Kentucky ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.

Are you serious? I’m on my phone and I’m getting really emotional in line at the bank

I worked on the “Vote No on the Amendment” campaign back when they first put the constitutional ban in the state so this is just…very emotional

Yes.  Just now.  There’s an immediate stay as it’s going to appeals so no marriages yet, but yeah.

"Gov. Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania said Wednesday that he would not appeal a judge’s ruling striking down Pennsylvania’s ban on same-sex marriage. With the decision, Pennsylvania became the 19th state, along with the District of Columbia, where same-sex couples are able to marry. Judge John E. Jones III of Federal District Court on Tuesday became the latest judge to throw out a series of state bans around the country, writing, “It is time to discard them into the ash heap of history.”"

This is your friendly reminder that the judge who made the Pennsylvania gay marriage ruling is the same guy who ruled against teaching “intelligent design” in public schools in Kitzmiller vs. Dover (aka. the case behind one of the most melodramatic episodes of NOVA ever).  AND that he did this despite being a Republican George W. Bush appointee.

Judge John Jones III is a man who sticks to his principles.
